Baby showers are most popular in America and are a definite part of established culture. In the last few years the baby shower has become increasingly popular in Europe. As with any party or celebration a baby shower requires planning. And the best place to start when you are planning your baby shower is to pick out the theme first. If you decide on your baby shower theme first then you can build all of the other elements around it and the planning will be much easier. Deciding on your baby shower theme first will help you when it comes to picking out invitations, choosing games to play, and deciding what sort of food, decorations, gifts and favors you would like to have at your baby shower. Focus ladies - although I know it's hard when you're excited.

Baby shower themes for little boys and little girls
Obviously you may or may not know what sex your new baby is going to be, but if you do know whether its going to be a little boy or a little girl, you could make this your baby shower theme. The most obvious starting place would be color. Baby blue for little boys and baby pink for little girls. If you don't know the sex of your newborn then you could choose other colors like green or baby yellow.
Nursery rhyme baby shower themes
If you are struggling for inspiration then why not think about "borrowing" some ideas from your favorite books from when you were a child. Nursery rhymes and bedtime stories are always a good theme for baby showers. You can also add abit of nostalgia and fun, as your guests will also enjoy the fun of it all. You could even get your guests to dress up to suit the theme - for example if you chose Cinderella then they could all come in costume - of course if you are inviting men then be sure to pick a nursery rhyme that will include them too and let them join in with the fun.
Tea party baby shower themes
Tea parties are always a great way of making your guests feel both special reference the sense of occasion, and they also are a really fun way of having a party. Tea parties could be themed like a "Mad Hatter" tea party, or even like a traditional "British" tea party with cucumber sandwiches and tea, jam scones and cream. The best thing about a tea party themed baby shower is that it is a lot of fun to do. You could even get your guests to bring food so that it is more like a picnic than a tea party - you could even have your tea party on blankets outside rather than around the table, depending upon how formal you would like your baby shower to be.
